Recently I had the opportunity to travel to Portland, Oregon for business. Not unusual for me as most of my work involves traveling somewhere. As I checked into the hotel, a woman was standing at the front desk yelling at the Front Desk Manager. I tried to ignore the situation but she was quite loud and it was impossible not to hear what her issue was. It seems that when she checked into the hotel, they asked her for a credit card to cover her incidentals (phone, mini bar, etc.).
She handed them her debit card. A while later, when she went to purchase something using her debit card and there was not enough money in her account. You see, when you check into a hotel and give them your plastic, they immediately put a hold of $100-$150 for each day of your stay. Within a few days of your check-out, they remove that hold. As I stood there I thought to myself, doesn’t everyone know that? Apparently not.
I realized that as a frequent traveler I take many things for granted. Here then is a list of travel tips that I have found

Travel is a fact of life for most consultants. Many spend 45 weeks on the road every year, and some say they wouldn’t want it any other way.
We know one married couple where both are traveling consultants. They often joke that they should write a book called “Marriage on Three Days a Week” because they only see each other from Thursday night to Sunday night most weeks. Of course, they take great vacations with all the frequent flier miles and hotel points, and neither one is left at home to manage the household while the other dines in restaurants every night and comes home expecting all the chores to be done.
Like many others, they have learned how to be comfortable on the road so that their travel schedules are a source of new experiences and great stories instead of a hardship. If you learn how to be comfortable in your environment, you’ll do better work and last longer in this demanding field.
There are two types of consulting roles, from a travel schedule perspective. One type of consultant is the real Road Warrior who is in a different city each week, often visiting two or three different clients and staying only

For 27 years, my friend Cille has been a flight attendant with Delta Airlines. She has clocked in, probably, millions of miles and has traveled extensively for free on standby with her husband and two children as well. She is a wealth of information when it comes to air travel tips.
She knows a whole lot about flying in an airplane, long and short distance. Having two children of her own and serving thousands upon thousands of passengers… from Los Angeles to Tampa, Memphis to Chicago, New York to Atlanta… the destinations are different but the nature of her work is the same.
I asked her to share some tips and lessons learned from her 27 years experience and am so glad she did.
Parents, your feelings transfers and shows in your children:
One of the most interesting thing she said was, if a parent is afraid of flying, somehow that fear will transfer to little children. Parents with anxieties, unprepared and tense during flights and travels are the ones who usually have children that are difficult and ‘troublesome’.
It does not matter what age your children are, parents who are calm will have happy little travelers.
Importance of snacks:

It is certainly not what we do in our daily life.
Then, let’s not forget the uncomfortable seat on the airplane with the cramped space the airlines leave you today.
So here are the 10 tips that I want to share with you to keep your back from aching, too.

Are you planning to fly to your place of interest anytime soon? Well, before you plan your holiday, it is very essential to bear in mind certain important things to avoid any last-minute hassles and make your vacation a memorable one. Following travel and luggage tips will help you plan your tour in a better way:
- If you have planned your tour during the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year, it is better to arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure. This is because these weeks are the busiest times of the year and the security check lines are very long. Similarly, most airports are extremely crowded on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons.
- In order to reduce the possibilities of a delay, it is advisable to prefer a non-stop flight over a break flight. As the air traffic is comparatively less in morning, the early morning flights are very less likely to be delayed.
- At the security check of almost all the airports, passengers are asked to remove their footwear. Therefore, it is always better to wear clean socks and slip-on shoes.
- As the passengers are required to furnish their identification proof several times before boarding, make sure you
